My book is out in the world! Here it is at Solid State Books in DC. A friend tells me it’s currently sold out there—thanks, y’all!
NYC & Brooklyn folks: I’d love to meet you in person! I'll be in conversation with
on May 20 at 7pm at The Nonbinarian Bookstore in Brooklyn. We’ll be talking about what it’s like to write books about our most tender stories, the desire for happy endings, and then we’ll do some drawing together, focusing on how to take care of ourselves when we’re telling the stories that most tug at us to be told. *No artistic ability needed*Please RSVP to let us know you’ll be joining us—and share with your friends!
If you’d like to check out my book, Everything is Fine, I’ll Just Work Harder, before the event, it’s at your local bookshop or indie books. And I hope you’ll check out Emi’s awesome book.
Peep my delight at seeing my book in the wild! It doesn’t get old.
I hope to see you in Brooklyn! <cue NO SLEEP TIL BROOKLYN in my brain >
Thanks for reading Soft Things: comics about science, research, and being human. I create narrative comics that intertwine research and storytelling to make science relatable. My comics have been featured in the Washington Post and Mutha Magazine, among other outlets. My graphic memoir is available from your local bookstore and elsewhere. If you’re new here, welcome! You might wonder why I’m curious about shame, why this newsletter is called Soft Things, and who the heck I am, anyway. For more comics, check out my Instagram @cara_gormally and website.
Congrats! And good to see how well your "simple" book cover design works among these other covers - it definitely catches the eye for its clear layout, easy-to-read title font and (I think this is the brilliance of it) the yellow circle on a pleasant blue background. It works! I would definitely pick it up from this display!
Congrats on the book out in the wild! 👏🏻👏🏻
