This week is a process post—and I’m feeling the intersection of art and life deeply.
I’m facing some changes—expected and unexpected. I’m noticing how my body responds—and how that’s showing up in my comics.
It’s fascinating to see what I’m drawn to in my pages: breaking out of the panels. Freeing myself from panels is such joy.
One giant change: I’ve been in a liminal space, waiting for the next steps for my book. Now it’s happening! It’s exhilarating and terrifying—because, oh wait, I’ve got to ink this thing. Luckily, I find comfort in the structure of deadlines.
I’m offering myself lots of softness as I bristle against some change. I know that resistance is my inheritance. It’s a gift.
Next week, I’ll be sharing a comic with research about invalidation and shame. If you’re new here you might wonder why I’m curious about shame, why this newsletter is called Soft Things, and who the heck I am, anyway.

How do you show up for yourself when you’re moving forward into the unknown?
Tell me in the comments & see you next week!
I've been in a liminal space for a minute now too – your art reminds me that with growing comes growing pains. there's no change without discomfort and resistance 🌱
I love the image of your hands holding you!
I also think it's really neat that people create literal panels and explore drawing outside of them- what a lovely process.
